This session focusses on enabling delegates to understand the basics of the FOIA, who it applies to, what a valid FOI request is, and what steps a public authority has to take in response to the request, including time scales, advising and assisting applicants.
It will also look at refusals and what information can or cannot be released and will provide delegates with a brief introduction to the FOI exemptions.
The webinar will also discuss the differences between FOIA in England, Wales & Northern Ireland, and the law in Scotland, along with an introduction to the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
It is an ideal introduction to FOIA for new employees (on induction) as well as those requiring a basic knowledge of FOI.
