Centre for Public Scrutiny names Staffordshire director as new Executive Director

Jacqui McKinlay, Director of Strategy and Customer Services at Staffordshire, replaces Jessica Crowe, who left to become Executive Head of Customers, Commissioning & Governance at Sutton Council.

McKinlay will join the charity – which promotes public scrutiny, accountability, transparency and involvement for the public benefit – in May.

She said: “Over the decade, the remit of the Centre for Public Scrutiny has continued to expand and recent issues such as the Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal demonstrate how important it is for local authorities and the wider public sector to be held to account for both their actions and their decisions.

“The CfPS undoubtedly has a hugely important role to play in ensuring public service organisations are fit for purpose and I am delighted to be given this fantastic opportunity to be the centre’s new Executive Director.”    

Nick Raynsford MP, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the CfPS, said: “With public services likely to face more challenges over the next few years and greater devolution on the cards, the role of scrutiny and the work of the CfPS will be increasingly important.

“Effective scrutiny can make a real difference to the services councils and other organisations provide and the lives of members of the community.”

Raynsford added: “I am delighted that Jacqui will be joining the Centre for Public Scrutiny as its Executive Director. I am confident that she will provide strong and inspirational leadership in the years ahead.”
