Care applications down 9% in January compared to 2013: Cafcass

The number of care applications in January was – at 883 – down 9% on the same month last year, Cafcass has revealed.
The figure is further evidence to suggest that the high water mark in care applications has been reached.
So far in 2013/14 Cafcass has received 8,788 applications, down 4% compared to the previous period (9,165).
The number of care applications received between April 2012 and March 2013 was 11,109. This was up from 10,255 the year before and 8,832 in 2009/10.
The highest ever recorded figure for a single month was 1,007 in February 2013.
