Cafcass sees care applications rise 10% in first half of 2015/16

The number of care applications received in the first half of 2015/16 was more than 10% higher than for the equivalent period in the previous year, Cafcass has reported.
According to Cafcass, there were 6,031 applications between April and September this year. This was 11.7% up on the 5,397 applications received from April to September 2014.
A record number of applications were received for the month of September last month (979), up 7% on September 2014 (913).
The highest number of applications for a single month took place in July this year, when 1,121 were recorded.
In 2014/15 there were 11,156 applications. This compared to 10,620 in 2013/14, 11,110 in 2012/13 and 10,255 in 2011/12.
