Collins named acting chairman of Institute of Licensing

Jon Collins, chief executive of CGA Strategy, has been appointed acting chairman of the Institute of Licensing.

He succeeds Jeremy Allen, the founder of leading licensing law firm Poppleston Allen who died in June this year.

Collins will be chairman of the Institute until 31 March 2012. “For a number of reasons Jon did not feel able to accept nomination as a permanent successor to Jeremy Allen at this time but the Panel hopes he will consider nomination at a later date,” the Institute said.

Collins, who has previously been both chairman and chief executive of Noctis (formerly BEDA), said: "I was proud to nominate Jeremy as Chair and I am proud and determined to push ahead with his vision, shared by all at the Institute, for the IoL's further development.

“I hope and believe my commercial experience and background in public affairs will prove of benefit as we seek to advance the Institute's role in policy development, deliver more for our members and increase recognition of the vital role licensing plays in creating safe and vibrant town and city centres".
