Ely Place head of licensing heads to Francis Taylor Building

The highly-rated head of the licensing group at Ely Place, Gary Grant, has moved to Francis Taylor Building.

Grant acts for local authorities, police forces and resident groups as well as for major leisure industry operators. In addition to licensing, he has significant experience before the criminal courts in associated regulatory matters.

His previous cases have included acting for the London Borough of Islington in a case where a licensee sought to challenge a licensing committee decision by attacking the council’s delegation.

Grant also prosecuted – on behalf of the London Borough of Richmond – an individual for demolishing a 19th century house in a conservation area without consent. The case saw the largest recorded fine being imposed by a Crown Court for this criminal offence.
