Mr Justice Holgate named Planning Liaison Judge

Mr Justice Holgate has been appointed as Planning Liaison Judge by the President of the Queen’s Bench Division.

The role involves overseeing the operation of the Planning Court and responsibilities include identifying those cases which might be considered to be particularly substantial or difficult and allocating them to a judge with significant expertise of the issues at hand.

The appointment took effect from 13 February 2017.

Mr Justice Holgate was appointed a High Court Judge in the Queen’s Bench Division in 2014.

On 1 January 2016 he was appointed as President of the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber).

He was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1978. He was appointed a QC in 1997 and a Recorder in 2002.
