Judiciary launches programme aimed at boosting number of deputy High Court judges from under-represented groups

A programme has been launched to recruit more deputy High Court judges from under represented groups.

The Judicial Diversity Committee has limited places on the scheme to women, black and minority ethnic people and those from less advantaged backgrounds.

The diversity programme offers the opportunity to meet a High Court judge to discuss their work, and a one-day workshop on how to prepare for the selection exercise.

Deputy High Court judges are expected to have “exceptional ability, expertise and experience to deal with all but the very heaviest cases” and may be given the opportunity to sit across all divisions of the High Court.

Appointments will be on a fixed term basis. Candidates will be expected to have at least eight years’ service when they apply and the programme is open to barristers, solicitors and academics.

Applicants must complete an application form by 20 September. Further information is available from:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
