Equalities watchdog calls for tenders on £1.8m legal services panel

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has announced plans to appoint barristers, advocates and solicitor advocates to a legal counsel panel worth an estimated £1.8m.

Successful applicants will support the non-departmental public body's advisory, influencing, regulatory and enforcement work.

According to the contract notice, the Commission is seeking applicants from a broad range of backgrounds.

"Where the term 'counsel' is used in relation to the panel, it is intended to cover barristers, advocates and solicitor advocates with the necessary qualifications," the notice states.

The panel will consist of five lots, four of which will cover England (King's Counsel, A, B and C). One lot is reserved for Scotland.

The panel will last four years.

Tenders may be submitted for one lot only, and applicants have until 13 February 2023 to apply.
