Ninth edition of King’s Bench Guide made available
The ninth edition of the King’s Bench Guide, which provides a guide to working practices of the King’s Bench Division within the Royal Courts of Justice, has been published this month.
Changes to the Guide since its last revision include:
- Guidance on what is expected of parties before completing directions questionnaires
- Further guidance concerning joint statement by expert witnesses
- Updated guidance on remote hearings
- Updated guidance on embargoed judgments and remote hand down of judgments
- Additional guidance with regard to evidence for use in cross border proceedings
- Information about notification of GLOs for inclusion on the Group Litigation Register
- Updated hyperlinks to cases in the National Archives database
- New notice of allocation
- Amendment to Masters’ Hearing Directions
- Amendment to court plans
- KB Masters Clerks contact details
In her foreword to the Guide, Dame Victoria Sharp, President of the King’s Bench Division, said: “The King’s Bench Guide was fully revised in 2022 but the law does not stand still, and I am very grateful to Master Sullivan for the work she has done in amending this new ninth edition and to Senior Master Fontaine and Mr Justice Soole for their editorial contributions and oversight of the King’s Bench Guide more generally.
“The Guide remains an essential resource to all those who practice or litigate in the King’s Bench Division.”
