London boroughs name five firms to £7.5m panel defending insurance claims

A consortium of seven London Boroughs has appointed five law firms to a panel handling defence litigation insurance claims.
The contract is for an initial three years, with an option to extend for a further two years.
The five firms are:
- Berrymans Lace Mawer
- Browne Jacobson
- Clyde & Co
- DWF
- Plexus Law
The consortium is expected to channel £7.5m in legal work through the panel if the arrangements stay in place for the full five years.
The procurement exercise was led by Croydon Council. The other members of the consortium are: Camden; Haringey; Harrow; Islington; Kingston-upon-Thames; Lambeth; Sutton; and Tower Hamlets.
