Legal adviser sought for tidal energy scheme near Anglesey

A not for profit company that aims to provide solutions to the challenges facing rural Wales, Menter Môn Cyf, is seeking a provider of legal services for a tidal energy project.

The Morlais Demonstration Zone (MDZ) scheme is proposed off Anglesey in North Wales.

The Morlais Property and Commercial and Consenting Support Legal Works package is to cover offshore seabed leases, offshore agreements for subleases and forms of sublease, dealing with receipt of option notices, putting in place subleases and land property agreements.

Menter Môn Cyf said that it was looking in addition to this for “commercial contract support, investment support, corporate structuring, procurement support, dispute resolution (as required), set up and management of Grid Connection Agreements and general legal support and Consenting Support Legal Work Package – Covering consenting support for offshore planning applications, Pre- Consenting (Transport and Works Act), application stage consultation and EIA (Transport and Works Act), application documents (Transport and Works Act) and Post-application and examination phase (Transport and Works Act).”

The contract is to be awarded on the basis of the delivery plan (weighting: 50), risks and challenges (weighting: 35), local content (weighting: 15) and price (weighting: 30).

It is expected to start on 1 August 2018 and run until 31 December 2020.
