Forestry Commission selects two firms for £2.5m legal services contract

The Commission, responsible for the management of publicly owned forests and the regulation of forestry in England, said the framework agreement is largely dominated by property management of the nation's forests.

According to the contract, the two firms will mainly provide legal services relating to:

• Estate and property management
• Claim management - traffic and third party
• HR and employment law
• Public law
• Corporate law
• Debt recovery

The Forestry Commission's property portfolio is made up of 254,000 hectares of forest and over 1500 properties. Property types include housing and commercial property, mineral developments, and various recreation and leisure businesses.

The contract was not divided into lots. It started on 16 December 2020 and will run for four years, ending on 15 December 2024.
