Government Legal Department Vacancies

Law firm Burges Salmon has advised Stevenage Borough Council on its partnership with Muse, English Cities Fund (ECF) and Homes England in relation to the £750 million–£1 billion mixed-use redevelopment of Station Gateway, Stevenage.

The firm said Station Gateway is "a once-in-a-generation regeneration scheme that will transform the area around Stevenage railway station, creating a vibrant new gateway to the town".

The masterplan covers up to 30 acres and will deliver high-quality housing, modern workspaces, a 175-key hotel, improved transport links, green infrastructure and local amenities.

The scheme is being delivered by ECF - a partnership between Muse, Homes England and Legal & General - in collaboration with the council and supported by the Stevenage Development Board.

The Burges Salmon team was led by director Amy Simpson, partner Ross Polkinghorne, and associate Daniella Baker from the firm’s Built Environment team, and Construction & Engineering senior associate Owen Watkins.

Simpson said: “We’re proud to have supported Stevenage Borough Council on this transformative project. Station Gateway represents a significant opportunity to unlock growth, attract investment and create a sustainable, future-facing destination that meets the needs of residents, businesses and visitors alike.”

Dave Wells, Director (Regeneration) at Stevenage Borough Council, said: “Station Gateway is a truly ambitious project that will redefine the heart of Stevenage and deliver long-term benefits for our community and economy. We are delighted to be working in partnership with ECF and Homes England to bring this vision to life. Our thanks go to Amy and the Burges Salmon team for their excellent advice and deep sector expertise throughout this process; their support has been invaluable in helping us reach this important milestone.”
