First Treasury Counsel James Eadie QC to receive knighthood

James Eadie QC, First Treasury Counsel and a barrister at Blackstone Chambers, has been knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to the Law and to Government.

He was appointed to the role of First Treasury Counsel in January 2009, breaking the tradition of appointing junior counsel to this role.

The position, known also as the ‘Treasury Devil’, means Eadie is the QC to whom the Government turn first for their major pieces of advice and litigation.

Other recipients of awards included Stella Manzie, former interim chief executive of Birmingham City Council, who was made a dame for services to local government.
