Leading children, public and employment law QCs named new High Court judges

A leading public law children’s silk, the joint head of 11KBW and a top administrative and public law QC are among seven new High Court judges announced this week.
Frances Judd QC of Harcourt Chambers has had extensive experience in public law children’s cases, briefed by local authorities, parents and guardians.
She will take up appointment consequential to the retirement of Mr Justice Bodey, and be assigned to the Family Division.
Also appointed is John Cavanagh QC, joint head of 11KBW and a leading employment law specialist. He will be assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division.
Martin Chamberlain QC of Brick Court Chambers has meanwhile practised in public law, human rights, EU and international law, latterly specialising in judicial review and appellate work. He will be assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division.
The other new High Court judges are:
- Jennifer Eady QC, Senior Circuit Judge of the Employment Tribunal. Assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division.
- Alison Foster QC of 39 Essex Chambers and a public lawyer with particular expertise in contentious VAT, taxation, tax and VAT in the property context and regulation. Assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division.
- Pushpinder Saini QC of Blackstone Chambers who has experience in a wide variety of areas of civil law. Assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division.
- Jeremy Johnson QC of 5 Essex Court whose practice focuses on public law, human rights (domestic and international), public inquiries and claims against the police and other public bodies. Assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division.
It is anticipated that a further ten appointments to the High Court will be announced in the coming months.
