Barnsley names new Service Director for Law and Governance

Barnsley Council has appointed Sukdave Ghuman as Service Director for Law and Governance and Chief Monitoring Officer.
Ghuman will join Barnsley in mid-July from Oxfordshire County Council, where he is currently the combined Head of Legal and Deputy Monitoring Officer for both the county and Cherwell District Council.
Shokat Lal, Barnsley’s Executive Director of Core Services, said: "I'm pleased to welcome Sukdave to Barnsley in his new roles as Service Director for Law and Governance and Chief Monitoring Officer for the council. He joins us with a wealth of experience in local government and a passion for public services.
“Sukdave joins us at an exciting time, leading our new Law and Governance business unit as we take forward our Council Plan for 2021 to 2024. His wealth of experience in local government, alongside his professional expertise in law, will help increase the visibility, influence and profile of Core Services, enabling our council to be modern, inclusive, efficient, productive and high performing.”
