No5 bolsters family group with arrival of five barristers

A group of five barristers specialising in family law and the Court of Protection have joined No5 from Garden Court Chambers.

They are:

  • Rebekah Wilson (Call:1998)
  • Christopher McWatters (Call: 2004)
  • Davina Krishnan (Call: 2004)
  • Artis Kakonge (Call:2006) and 
  • Nisha Bambhra (Call: 2011).

They will be based at Savoy Court in London.

No5 said Wilson is “a highly experienced and dedicated child and family law practitioner, [who] acts in factually and legally complex cases for all parties in Public Law and Private law proceedings (securing residence orders, contact orders and orders involving removal from the jurisdiction) and all matters involving the rights of children in the High Court Family Division”.

McWatters is “a highly experienced barrister in all areas of Children’s Law, including Public Law, Private Law as well as International Child Abduction”. He represents parents, guardians, local authorities, family relatives and intervenors at all levels including in the Court of Appeal.

Krishnan has “a thriving and specialist practice” in all areas of family law and is instructed in all areas of Children Act work. “She is well known for her calm approach and effectiveness in difficult situations, meticulous preparation, robust cross examination and ability to build rapport with clients, opponents and judges alike,” No5 said.

Kakonge meanwhile is a family law specialist with a particular interest in adoption and education law. “Within her care practice Artis is often instructed by local authorities and guardians and within her private practice Artis represents clients in both Private Children and Financial Proceedings.”

Bambhra “has a busy practice in both Private and Public Law family matters with a keen interest in Court of Protection work. Nisha also has experience of cases involving forced marriages, Female Genital Mutilation as well as international jurisdictional matters including relocation and abduction.”
