BDB Pitmans hires public law and commercial litigation specialist

Public law and commercial litigation lawyer Oliver Wright has joined BDB Pitmans as a partner.

Wright joins the firm after five years as a partner in the public law and commercial litigation practice at JMW Solicitors.

Prior to that, he spent a year as a senior associate at Knights PLC and five years as Senior Litigation Solicitor and Head of Public and Information Law at LHS Solicitors.

He has acted for public sector and trade bodies, ultra-high-net-worth business leaders, politicians, medical and law enforcement professionals alongside large businesses in the real estate, construction, transport and infrastructure and technology sectors across a number of contentious public law matters.

He also has experience as a commercial litigator with a history of handling contentious media disputes, reputation management, and data privacy work.

Wright said: “BDB Pitmans has a first-class reputation for public law, both as parliamentary agents and acting for statutory and regulatory bodies. I am thrilled to be joining the firm and look forward to developing the practice further.”

BDB Pitmans public law team advises on a range of administrative and public law matters including judicial reviews, statutory appeals, public inquiries and inquests.

Phil Smith, head of litigation at BDB Pitmans, added: “We are delighted with Oliver’s decision to join the firm. We know him well and he has a terrific track record. We look forward to working with him and to the contributions he will make to this key growth area for the firm.”

Wright’s appointment follows the promotion of partner Oliver Wasserman on 2 April, bringing the total number of partners at the firm to 64.
