11KBW silk appointed as High Court judge

A leading public law King’s Counsel at 11KBW has been appointed as a High Court judge, with effect from 12 January 2026.
Jason Coppel KC will be assigned to the King’s Bench Division where he will bring more than 30 years of experience as a barrister, and six years of judicial experience as a Deputy High Court Judge, to the role.
Coppel was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1994 and took silk in 2013. He was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2018.
He practised at 11KBW for his entire career, specialising in public law, procurement law and information law, with particular emphasis on EU law and human rights.
