Bevan Brittan targets North of England public sector work with Leeds opening

Bevan Brittan has launched a new office in Leeds, with advanced plans to hire seven partners.

The firm has initially announced the recruitment of Michael Boyd, a healthcare specialist, and Julie Cowan-Clark, a property lawyer with particular experience of advising housing associations. Both are former DWF lawyers.

The Leeds office will be the fourth in Bevan Brittan’s network. It already has offices in London, Birmingham and Bristol.

Bevan Brittan’s senior partner, Beth Evans, will be based in the new office to support its opening.

Duncan Weir, the firm’s managing partner, said: “Leeds is a major commercial centre in its own right and also a key centre for the public sector, taking a lead role in the Core Cities programme and housing NHS England’s national HQ. As such, it makes strong strategic sense for us to have a base in Leeds.

Michael Boyd said: “Joining a new office where healthcare is a key area for growth is a very exciting opportunity.”

Julie Cowan-Clark said: ”I am delighted to be joining an experienced national team and being part of the expansion into Leeds."
