No5 Barristers' Chambers Planning Podcast - Episode 4 - Covid-consequences: Net Zero

In their fourth podcast instalment, the Planning Team at No5 Barristers' Chambers continue to look at COVID-19 consequences and ask what was the vision pre-covid and what are the Covid-consequences?

The legal obligation to achieve a net zero carbon budget by 2050 was arguably the biggest policy goal to be set after the 2016 referendum. What vision did local authorities have for net zero, pre-covid? Has the virus encouraged that local authority vision, or wholly shifted the focus to the imminent threat?

Nina Pindham sets out the legal and policy vision. Nina then engages with local authority guests Maria Dunn and Naomi Todd from Birmingham City Council, and Sally Longford from Nottingham City Council, on their current thinking on transport, energy, economic recovery and sandpits (yes, sandpits).
