City solicitors and ex-head of chambers set up boutique planning law firm

A team of five leading City solicitors and a former joint head of Cornerstone Barristers have joined forces to set up a boutique planning law firm.

The founders of Town Legal are:

  • Elizabeth Christie, previously at Herbert Smith Freehills
  • Mary Cook, Cornerstone Barristers
  • Clare Fielding, Gowling WLG
  • Meeta Kaur, King & Wood Mallesons
  • Simon Ricketts, King & Wood Mallesons
  • Patrick Robinson (managing partner), Herbert Smith Freehills

The firm, which opened for business at the beginning of the year, said its lawyers would be available to work on significant, complex or controversial projects in London or the rest of the country.

It added that the availability of Cook, a barrister for more than 30 years, for advice and/or advocacy “without traditional professional barriers” would allow for a seamless approach.

“We offer City firm standards but can be wholly focused on our clients’ needs, without big law firm overheads, structure or bureaucracy,” it said.
