TLT advises city council on procurement of joint delivery partner for major regeneration project

Law firm TLT has advised Birmingham City Council on procuring a joint delivery partner – St Joseph, part of the Berkeley Group - for the Ladywood Estate Regeneration project.

A Master Development Agreement has been signed between St Joseph and the local authority, allowing the development to move into its next phase.

As part of the regeneration at least 70% of the existing homes on the estate will be refurbished or reprovided, significant new homes will be built and at least 20% of these will be affordable homes, TLT said.

There will be new community facilities, better transport links and delivery of jobs and apprenticeships.

The TLT team was led by David Meecham, Partner in its Housing and Regeneration team, supported by Shazia Bashir, Housing and Regeneration Partner and Kuldip Dhanoya, Partner and Head of Public Procurement.

St Joseph was represented by Gerald Kelly at DAC Beachcroft.

David Meecham said: “This project highlights the critical importance of new housing developments in urban regeneration. The Ladywood Regeneration project is set to deliver much-needed new homes (of all tenures) in the UK’s second largest city.

“It has been a pleasure to support Birmingham City Council on securing the agreement with St Joseph, helping the local authority unlock future growth opportunities for this thriving city.”

Cllr Sharon Thompson, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills and Deputy Mayor of West Midlands, said: “We would like to thank TLT for their support on procuring a joint delivery partner, that will help us to deliver a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the regeneration of the Ladywood Estate.

"The investment being made will bring vital new homes to the city, improve existing homes, as well as transforming Ladywood into a more sustainable estate, with better facilities, better transport links, walking routes, and green spaces.”
