Kent local government lawyer wins seat on Law Society Council

A childcare lawyer in the legal services team at Kent County Council has been elected as a Law Society Council member representing the Junior Lawyers Division.

Beth Forrester joined Kent in December 2011 as a newly-qualified lawyer in its Canterbury team. She had previously trained in private practice in Brighton, focusing on matrimonial and private law children matters.

The Junior Lawyers Division is the largest special interest group within the Law Society with more than 70,000 members.

It has two places on the Law Society Council. Forrester takes the seat allocated to a junior solicitor with up to five years' post-qualification experience. The other seat is for a trainee solicitor or student.

The Law Society Council members representing local government are Maria Memoli and Bev Cullen.
