Council to hire provider for £4.25m legal advice contract for children's services

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is to appoint a single provider to a £3m to £4.25m contract to deliver legal advice and support for its decision making in relation to children.
Under the deal the provider will meet Redcar & Cleveland's needs in respect of its responsibilities to children and young people for:
- General legal advice in public and private cases;
- Litigation through legal proceedings in the courts;
- Training for social workers in the legal aspects of child care work.
The provider will be expected to attend meetings.
The contract term is for three years, with the option of two 12-month extensions.
