Seminar and Roundtable Discussion with Civitas

Location: The Principality Stadium, Cardiff (and available virtually)

Civitas Law’s specialist housing team is delighted to host an afternoon of updates and discussion ahead of the implementation of the Renting Homes Wales Act. The event will take the form of a series of seminars followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.

The event is open to all sectors and will cover issues affecting community and private landlords. It is aimed at all those working in housing or related sectors including solicitors and legal advisors (private practice; in-house and the voluntary sector); housing officers; the public sector, the finance sector.

Seminars:

Hitting the Ground Running- Transitional provisions ad working with the Act on day 1

Lucy King will provide an update on the key points to note for implementation day including transitional provisions and practice points

Litigating disrepair claims in Wales

Dominic Evans will provide an overview of housing disrepair claims and the new Fitness for Human Habitation regime

Interpreting bi-lingual legislation (and contracts!)

Owain Rhys James looks at the relevant considerations when interpreting bi-lingual legislation and its impact upon litigating housing legislation and occupation agreements.

Roundtable discussion

The session will be an opportunity to share ideas, concerns, discuss issues and identify trends with the new regime.

Mark Woloshak – Head of Litigation at Howells Solicitors, and Board member and Valleys to Coast
