Four housing associations launch alliance to procure legal services

Four housing associations have formed an alliance to procure legal services.

The founder members of the Housing Associations’ Legal Alliance are Metropolitan Housing Partnership, Peabody, Phoenix and Servite Houses. Between them, they own or manage approximately 80,000 homes in England.

The four firms are in the process of setting up a framework agreement that will cover:

  • Housing and asset management
  • Sales and leasehold (including shared ownership)
  • Development
  • Commercial property
  • Employment and pensions
  • Care homes
  • Corporate governance, and
  • Treasury and funding.

The agreement will last for four years, with the option to extend by a further year. It will be made available to any new members of the alliance.

The deadline for expressions of interest from firms with “a strong track record within the social housing sector” passed on 23 April.

The tender is being run by legal procurement consultancy Kennedy Cater.

Last month the Generate Group of housing providers in the North West appointed ten law firms under its legal services framework.
