County council faces legal action from victim after abuse ring convictions

Buckinghamshire County Council is facing the threat of legal action for alleged negligence, after six men were jailed this week over the abuse of two schoolgirls.

According to a report on the BBC, the six men were said to have carried out the attacks between 2006 and 2012.

The men, who were from Aylesbury, Milton Keynes and Bradford, denied any involvement. However, they were convicted and sentenced to between three years and 19-and-a-half years in jail.

Alan Collins, a partner at Hugh James who is acting for one of the victims, said it was “very early days” and legal proceedings had not yet been issued.

“We hope very much that it will not come to that but we will have to wait and see,” he told Local Government Lawyer.

A spokesperson for the county council said: “As this is an ongoing legal matter, we are unable to provide any comment.”
