Keoghs completes acquisition of insurance business group from Hill Dickinson

Defendant law firm Keoghs has completed the acquisition of Hill Dickinson’s insurance business group in a deal that will see the transfer of 17 partners and 311 staff.

The move brings Keoghs headcount to 1,740 across 12 offices. The firm will also gain a presence in Liverpool, where it will sub-let premises from Hill Dickinson.

The acquisition is the latest stage of Keoghs’ expansion, with the firm having established offices in London, Southampton and Glasgow in the last 18 months.

Keoghs said: “Importantly, the acquisition is a key strategic milestone in Keoghs becoming the pre-eminent provider of claims-related services for the insurance industry, delivered through a unique blend of quality legal advice and handling, innovative services and market-leading technology.”

The sale excludes Hill Dickinson’s marine insurance and clinical negligence work. Hill Dickinson is now to focus on strategic areas of growth in its core business areas of health, marine and commercial.
