L&Q appoints City law firm to £826k contract advising on corporate real estate transactions

One of the UK’s largest housing associations and developers, L&Q, has appointed City law firm Clifford Chance to a £826,000 contract for the provision of legal services related to potentially generally high value and/or complex corporate real estate transactions.

This procurement activity relates to the provision of legal services as described as follows:

  • The provision of legal services related to potentially generally high value and/or complex corporate real estate transactions,
  • The provision of legal services related specifically to the potential corporate acquisitions of two strategic land and/or housebuilding companies, and
  • The provision of legal services relating to alternative structures that would satisfy L&Q’s strategic ambitions.

L&Q said it had been seeking “a suitably qualified and experienced service provider to provide high quality services supported by robust management and quality control processes”.

The contract was initially estimated to be worth £1m.

Earlier this month L&Q completed the acquisition of Trafford Housing Trust, a deal it said would facilitate £4 billion investment in creating 20,000 new homes across the North West.

Operationally, Trafford Housing Trust will keep its name and corporate structure and will sit as a standalone company within the L&Q Group.
