Campaigners given green light for legal challenge to 110-home social housing scheme
- Details
A local campaign group has raised nearly £12,300 to take the London Borough of Lewisham to judicial review over a planned development at Sydenham.
Friends of Mais House said on its Crown Justice page that Mrs Justice Lang had agreed it had an arguable case for judicial review and was covered by the Aarhus Convention costs limit of £5,000.
The group said a proposed development would damage the Great North Wood, a tract of ancient woodland on the highest point of south London.
It has claimed that when Lewisham gave planning consent to the City of London Corporation for the scheme last August heritage and conservation reports were wrongly withheld from the planning committee.
The corporation plans 110 homes for social housing, half of which would be let to Lewisham residents.
Lewisham has been contacted for comment.
