Lucy Frazer KC named Minister of State for Housing and Planning

Lucy Frazer KC has been appointed Minister of State for Housing and Planning, replacing Lee Rowley, who was in the role for less than four months but will remain a minister in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

Confirming her appointment, Frazer said on Twitter: "Building the homes we need and helping more people into home ownership are rightly important priorities for the Government. Delighted to be given the opportunity to contribute to this work as Minister for Housing & Planning."

She also thanked Rowley for his "hard work in the role".

Frazer has previously acted as Minister of State at the Department for Transport and Financial Secretary to the Treasury. She has also served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Justice, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, and as Solicitor General.

Before entering politics, Frazer practised as a barrister for 17 years. She took silk in 2013.

Rowley will stay in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, having been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary for Local Government and Building Safety.

Felicity Buchan has meanwhile been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary for Housing and Homelessness, Dehenna Davison as Parliamentary Under Secretary for Levelling Up, and Baroness Scott of Bybrook as Parliamentary Under Secretary for Faith and Communities.
