Bevan Brittan strengthens health and social care offering with London partner hire

Law firm Bevan Brittan has boosted the Health & Care Regulatory team in its London office with the appointment of Amrita Hurst as a Partner.

Hurst has extensive experience of working with local authorities, the NHS, central government departments and health and social care providers in the independent and third sectors.

She specialises in a range of key issues, from safeguarding and education to mental health and human rights law, for both adults and children.

As well as working in private practice, Hurst has held in-house legal positions in central and local government bodies including Croydon Council, the London Borough of Lambeth and the Government Legal Department.

Hurst said: “Having worked in-house in central and local government legal departments, and in healthcare regulation, I am well placed to advise on contentious and policy matters, always being mindful of the wider context.

“I have specialised in health and social care law and public and regulatory law more generally in the public and independent sectors for 20 years, having acted in some novel and significant cases in the fields of vulnerable adults and children, mental health, health care, safeguarding, education and human rights law.

“I am excited about bringing my experience to the established and reputable Health & Care Regulatory team at Bevan Brittan and continuing my advisory responsibilities with public bodies, independent providers and charities across the social care, health, education and housing sectors.”

Tim Hodgetts, Partner and head of Health & Care - Resolution and Regulatory at Bevan Brittan, added: “We have a strong Health & Care Regulatory team that possesses extensive knowledge in health and social care law and Amrita will be a valuable addition.

“We are looking forward to utilising her impressive public and regulatory experience in a busy and thriving practice area that requires increased resource as more legal cases are brought to our attention. We extend a huge welcome to Amrita and feel privileged that she will be delivering excellent legal support to our clients.”
