Largest social landlord in Scotland set to procure £6m legal services panel

Scotland’s largest social housing group is seeking expressions of interest in a potential legal services contract worth an estimated £6m.

The Wheatley Housing Group has – at this initial scoping stage – divided the contract into the following lots:

  1. Commercial contracts.
  2. Legal governance.
  3. Legal charities.
  4. Legal employment & civil litigation.
  5. Banking.
  6. Debt recovery services.
  7. Property searching, reporting and statutory requirement services.

It is anticipated the framework will be for a period of three years with the option to extend for an additional 12 months.

The Wheatley Group said it intended this to be a collaborative procurement exercise and as such it was its intention to open the framework up to other public bodies for utilisation. It added that it was only seeking expressions of interest at this point and that the structure of the arrangements may change.

The group provides homes and services to over 200,000 people in 17 local authority areas across Central Scotland.

Another Scottish social landlord, West of Scotland Housing Association, is also looking to appoint providers to a £225,000 contract for legal services.

The contract to advise the association and its subsidiary Willowacre Trust is for a five-year period.
